Dried and Salted Fish Patties

Originating from the coastal region of Honduras, dried and salted fish patties have their roots in the culinary tradition of local fishermen.

Ingredients

1 ½ pound of Dried and salted fish

1 Egg, separated

¼ cup of Flour

4 cups of Water

cup of Chopped onion

1 tablespoon of Cilantro leaf

½ cup of Oil

½ teaspoon of Achiote

½ teaspoon of Pepper

¼ cup of Chopped sweet chili

1 Celery stalk

2 Garlic cloves

Preparation

Step 1 : The dried fish is soaked the night before to remove the salt.

Step 2 : Then it is rinsed with hot water, drained, and the meat is shredded, carefully removing the bones.

Step 3 : In a blender, combine green chili, onion, garlic, achiote, cilantro, celery, and egg to season the dough.

Step 4 : Place a piece of fish in a spoonful of dough, then cover it with another seasoned portion of the mixture.

Step 5 : The patties are fried in a skillet with hot oil until golden on both sides, then placed on absorbent paper.

Step 6 : They can be served with salad and slices.
