Cabbage Tamalitos
Ingredients
8 Large cabbage leaves
4 tablespoons of Oil
1 Onion, julienned
3 Garlic cloves, diced
½ pound of Ground beef
1 cup of Cooked rice
1 Tomato diced in cubes
½ teaspoon of Oregano
1 tablespoon of Finely chopped parsley
Salt and pepper
1 pinch of Pepper
Preparation
Step 1 : The first step is to wash the cabbage leaves in a basin with water and a splash of vinegar.
Step 2 : After washing, remove them from the vinegar water, take out the hard central part, and cook them in salted water for a few minutes until tender.
Step 3 : Then drain them, rinse with cold water, and dry thoroughly.
Step 4 : In a skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of oil and sauté half of the onion and garlic for 5 minutes.
Step 5 : Add the meat and brown it for another 5 minutes.
Step 6 : Mix in the rice, season with oregano, chopped parsley, salt, and pepper to taste, and stir well until all ingredients are integrated.
Step 7 : Sauté for another 5 minutes.
Step 8 : Place the cabbage leaves on a flat surface and fill them with the seasoned meat and rice mixture.
Step 9 : Fold the edges of both sides over the filling and roll them up.
Step 10 : In a skillet, add a bit of oil and sauté the cabbage rolls for about 5 minutes.
Step 11 : Then add the remaining onion, garlic, tomato, oregano, salt, and pepper to taste.
Step 12 : Cook over low heat for approximately 10 minutes.
