About its origin
Macheteadas are a very popular dessert in Honduras, especially in the northern region of the country.
Although their exact origin is unknown, it is believed that they were created by rural families in the region, using the ingredients available to them to make affordable and delicious desserts.
They are called this because of the marks or cuts made on their surface during preparation, which resemble the indentations made by a machete on plants.
Preparation Tips
To prepare perfect macheteadas, we recommend sprinkling them with a little powdered sugar or brown sugar, along with butter and honey.
You can also prepare recipes like honey-coated coyoles or milk-covered torrejas to serve alongside.
