Ingredients

1 teaspoon of Instant dry yeast

1 tablespoon of Sugar

2 tablespoons of Warm water

2 cups of Flour

¼ cup of Sugar

2 Eggs

cup of Whole milk

1 tablespoon of Orange zest

1 teaspoon of Lemon zest

cup of Yellow butter

¼ cup of Vegetable shortening

¼ cup of Sugar

¼ cup of Flour

½ cup of Candied fruits

Preparation

Step 1 : Begin by preheating the oven to 350°F.

Step 2 : Then, mix the yeast with a tablespoon of sugar and warm water in a bowl, ensuring the ingredients are well combined and let it rest until it doubles in size.

Step 3 : In another bowl, combine the flour with the previous mixture.

Step 4 : Add the eggs, whole milk, orange and lemon zest, ¼ cup of sugar, and the yellow butter.

Step 5 : Mix all the ingredients until forming a homogeneous dough.

Step 6 : Knead the mixture with your hands on the table, stretch it, cover, and punch it down to get a smooth, elastic texture that doesn’t stick to your fingers.

Step 7 : Let the dough rest in a warm place, covered with a lightly damp cloth, until it doubles in size.

Step 8 : Then, cut the dough into 3 equal parts, stretch them, and make long, thick strips.

Step 9 : Place them side by side and braid, forming a ring shape.

Step 10 : Place the candied fruits on top and cover with a damp cloth.

Step 11 : Allow to rest until it doubles in size.

Step 12 : Prepare a paste by mixing ¼ cup of sugar, beating the vegetable shortening with sugar and ¼ cup of flour.

Step 13 : Brush the ring with beaten egg, divide the sugar paste into strips, and place on top of the ring.

Step 14 : Finally, bake for 1 hour, or until golden brown.
