Traditional Baleadas
Ingredients
1 ½ can of 1.5 cups of cooked or drained red beans
3 Tablespoons of chopped onion
1 Clove of chopped garlic
¼ Ground cumin
1 cup of Chicken broth
1 Grated carrot
1 Chopped pickled jalapeño chili
2 Or 3 tbsp of white vinegar
½ Tablespoon of sugar
½ Tablespoon of ground black pepper
8 Wheat flour tortillas
½ cup of Honduran butter
2 cups of Chopped cabbage into strips
1 pinch of Salt
Preparation
Step 1 : To prepare the filling, place the beans, onion, garlic, cumin, and broth in a skillet.
Step 2 : Bring to a boil for 5 minutes and season to taste.
Step 3 : Then, remove from heat, mash the beans, and let cool.
Step 4 : For the salad, mix the cabbage, carrot, chili, vinegar, sugar, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
Step 5 : Warm the tortillas and fill them with the bean mixture.
Step 6 : Then, roll up the tortillas and secure with toothpicks if necessary.
Step 7 : Finally, serve the baleadas accompanied by Honduran butter and the previously prepared salad.
