Montuca

A little-known appetizer from Honduran culture, but once you try it, you'll definitely want to prepare it every day.

Originally from rural areas, this recipe has been passed down from generation to generation, becoming a symbol of the country's culinary identity.

Ingredients

15 Tender corn (save the leaves for later)

1 ½ pound of Pork ribs

3 Bars of margarine

1 cup of Rice

1 pound of Cooked and julienned potatoes

1 ½ cup of Sugar

Oil

1 Onion

6 Tomatoes

3 Sweet chili peppers

3 Garlic cloves

1 Achiote packet

1 pinch of Salt

1 Rib broth

Oregano

Parmesan cheese

1 pinch of Pepper

Preparation

Step 1 : The pork meat is marinated in advance, seasoned with salt and pepper, then added with onion, chili, and broth.

Step 2 : The dough is prepared by scraping and grinding the corn, then cooked with oil, salt, and sugar to taste.

Step 3 : For the montuca filling, place in a pan a portion of achote-dissolved dough, add margarine, garlic, salt, pepper, and oregano.

Step 4 : To assemble the montucas, place a corn husk, then the cooked dough, a tablespoon of rice, two pieces of cooked potato, a piece of meat, and a spoonful of the prepared achote mix.

Step 5 : Wrap carefully to prevent spilling, tie to secure the dough, and place in a pot with boiling water for 3 hours.

Step 6 : When serving, it can be accompanied with Parmesan cheese or butter.
