Honduran Stuffed Turkey Recipe for Christmas
Ingredients
1 Approximately 5-6 kg turkey
1 cup of Melted butter
2 cups of Chicken broth
2 teaspoons of Chicken broth
2 teaspoons of Onion powder
2 teaspoons of Paprika
1 teaspoon of Dried thyme
1 teaspoon of Dried oregano
Salt and pepper to taste
4 cups of Dried white bread, crumbled
½ cup of Chopped nuts
½ cup of Raisins
1 cup of Peeled and chopped apples
½ cup of Chopped celery
½ cup of Chopped onion
1½ cup of Grated carrots
1 cup of Butter
2 cups of Chicken broth
2 teaspoons of Salt
1 teaspoon of Pepper
1 teaspoon of Nutmeg
Preparation
Step 1 : To prepare the turkey, start by preheating the oven to 180°C.
Step 2 : Then, wash and thoroughly dry the turkey, and season it with salt and pepper both inside and out.
Step 3 : In a bowl, mix the melted butter with garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, thyme, and oregano, then rub this mixture over the turkey.
Step 4 : Place the turkey in a roasting dish and pour chicken broth into the base.
Step 5 : Cover the turkey with aluminum foil and bake for about 3 hours, removing the foil during the last 30 minutes to brown.
Step 6 : To prepare the stuffing, melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
Step 7 : Add the onion, celery, and carrots, cooking until tender.
Step 8 : Then, add the nuts, raisins, apples, and crumbled bread, mixing well.
Step 9 : Pour chicken broth over the mixture and season with salt, pepper, and nutmeg, cooking until everything is well combined and heated through.
Step 10 : To stuff the turkey, fill it with the prepared mixture and tie the legs with kitchen twine to secure the filling.
