Garnachas

They are an excellent appetizer option for our banquets. On this occasion, we will provide the recipe for garnacha in the traditional Honduran style, following the step-by-step process.

Its origin dates back to traditional Honduran home cooking from many years ago. Garnachas represent a delicious and comforting delicacy that has endured over time as a culinary treasure to enjoy during gatherings and special events.

Ingredients

½ kilogram of Chopped beef

3 cups of Flour

3 cups of Water

1 tablespoon of Oil

1 Big onion

3 Red tomatoes

1 Sweet chili

4 Cloves of garlic

1 teaspoon of Cumin

½ tablespoon of Oregano

1 pinch of Pepper

½ Sliced cabbage

1 Sliced carrot

½ cup of Grated cheese

1 pinch of Salt

Oil for frying

Preparation

Step 1 : To prepare this delicious recipe, start by making the corn tortillas.

Step 2 : In a bowl, combine the corn flour with a pinch of salt and add 2 cups of water.

Step 3 : Mix well until you get a smooth dough.

Step 4 : Heat a griddle and form small balls with the dough, then stretch them to make thick tortillas and cook until golden brown on both sides.

Step 5 : Protect them once they are ready.

Step 6 : In a pot, add the meat along with enough water, salt, pepper to taste, and 2 cloves of garlic.

Step 7 : Cook covered for 40 minutes or until the meat is tender.

Step 8 : Remove the meat from the pot, finely chop it, and pass it through a mill along with half of the onion.

Step 9 : Sauté the meat in a skillet with oil for 5 minutes, adjusting seasoning if necessary.

Step 10 : Reserve the meat for later use.

Step 11 : For the sauce, boil the tomatoes in a pot with water for 10 minutes.

Step 12 : Then, blend them with half a cup of the cooking water, the chili, the other half of the onion, and the remaining garlic.

Step 13 : Process until obtaining a homogeneous mixture.

Step 14 : Pour the sauce into the skillet, add cumin, oregano, salt, and pepper to taste.

Step 15 : Cook over low heat for 10 minutes or until slightly thickened.

Step 16 : To assemble the garnachas, place a portion of meat in the center of each tortilla.

Step 17 : Fry them in a skillet with enough oil for one minute until golden, then remove.

Step 18 : Serve the tortillas on a plate and top with sauce, cheese to taste, cabbage, and carrot.
