Corn Tamalitos

Corn tamalitos are a traditional Honduran delicacy. Made with fresh corn, butter, and sugar, they are wrapped in corn leaves and steamed until tender and juicy. Perfect to enjoy with a good coffee.

Corn tamalitos are prepared with ground corn kernels mixed with butter, oil, salt, and sugar in a bowl.

The mixture is placed in corn leaves forming cones which are closed with another leaf and steamed for 30 minutes. Once ready, they are served with butter and cream.

Ingredients

12 Corn cobs

1 cup of Vegetable oil

1 cup of Butter

d tablespoon of Salt

1 tablespoon of Sugar

Corn leaves

Cream butter

Preparation

Step 1 : Begin by carefully peeling the corn without breaking the leaves, which will be used later to wrap the tamalitos.

Step 2 : Next, remove the kernels from the cob using a knife and grind them in a blender, processor, or mill.

Step 3 : In a large bowl, combine the corn mixture with butter, oil, salt, and sugar, ensuring all ingredients are well integrated.

Step 4 : Then, place about 2-3 tablespoons of the mixture on a corn leaf, fold it into a cone, close with another leaf, and fold the tips.

Step 5 : Arrange all the tamalitos in a large pot on a rack, covering them with Tusa leaves, and add 2 cups of water.

Step 6 : Steam them for about 30 minutes.

Step 7 : Finally, once cooked, remove the tamalitos and serve with cream butter.
