As a snack at company events or a casual gathering at home, it is true that chicken pastries are perfect for all occasions.
They have their roots in the culinary tradition of the Central American region, being a popular dish at celebrations and special events. It is believed that this recipe has evolved over generations, adapting local ingredients and preparation techniques.
Chicken Pastries
Ingredients
2 ½ cups of Wheat flour
½ Lard
1 pound of Deboned chicken breast
1 Chicken broth
1 pinch of Salt
2 teaspoons of Baking soda
90 milliliters of Warm water
50 grams of Oil
1 pinch of Salt
1 pinch of Pepper
Preparation
Step 1 : To prepare the chicken, cut it into small pieces to minimize cooking time.
Step 2 : Season with salt, pepper, and chicken broth, add water, and cook for about 20 minutes.
Step 3 : Then, place the cooked chicken in a bowl and shred it.
Step 4 : For the dough, place part of the wheat flour in a mixing bowl, add lard, baking soda, and salt.
Step 5 : Start kneading while adding warm water.
Step 6 : Continue kneading and adding flour until reaching a flexible consistency.
Step 7 : Form small balls with the dough and let them rest covered with a cloth for 5 minutes.
Step 8 : On a previously oiled plate, place the dough ball and proceed to make the tortilla.
Step 9 : Once ready, add the chicken and seal, making sure the filling does not spill out.
Step 10 : Fry in a preheated skillet.
Step 11 : Serve with salsa or chismol.
